LMX – a sustainable conference

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Local Marketing Expo has chosen Virginia Beach Convention Center, a “Virginia Green” certified & Energy Star Partner, as its venue. Virginia Green is the Commonwealth of Virginia’s campaign to promote environmentally-friendly practices in all aspects of the Virginia tourism and hospitality industry. The Virginia Beach Convention Center, which is anticipated to be LEED certified in the near future, recycles, composts and donates food, incorporates its own vegetables, locally grown and organic food into its menus.

In an effort to make LMX green, we are using eco-friendly signage, reusable name tags and water stations. We are encouraging attendees to carpool and to use the recycle containers while at the conference. Exhibitors will be asked to bring realistic amounts of promotional materials and to recycle unused portions rather than dispose of them. Lastly, our speakers will be asked if they would go “paperless” so we can post notes on the LMX website after the conference.

Local Marketing Expo is committed to become as environmentally-friendly as possible. Being a sustainable conference can make a difference in our local community.

A Logo For You has a logo for you

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

A Logo For You is one of our exhibitors at LMX 2010. A Logo For You has been providing top quality custom embroidery, screen printing and promotional products in Hampton Roads since 1987. A few of their clients have included Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. When mentioning to a colleague that an embroiderer from Williamsburg was signed on to exhibit, he responded, “Is it A Logo For You?” and then, “They do great work.” This affirms to us at LMX that this event is attracting quality businesses; not only as attendees, but exhibitors as well.

Visit them at Local Marketing Expo in the fall or sooner at A Logo For You’s brand new showroom located in the Busch Industrial Park, near Water Country in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Logo Team keeps normal business hours Monday thru Friday, 8:30-5:00pm, and will also set up appointments outside of those times to accommodate clients. And don’t worry, no order is too big or too small. Let them take care of you.

Attend to Learn, Network and GROW Your Business!

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

The benefits to being a lifelong learner are plentiful. In fact, I recently spent some time with my 87 year old grandmother and her motto is “Use it or lose it!”. She was referring to her body and mind. Are you feeling tired or burned out? Could you use new information, updated tips and innovative ideas to expand your mind and business? LMX keynotes and breakout sessions are designed for you to come away with skills you can use the next business day.

Networking with like minded professionals can be an adrenaline rush. You might have noticed someone in a breakout session that you want to meet. Get out of your comfort zone. Introduce yourself, strike up a conversation about an interesting marketing topic that was covered and then ask about THEIR business. Listen and then ask how you can help them. It will be a pleasant surprise for them and a boost for you. The LMX networking bash will be a good testing ground for this concept.

Are you ready to grow your business? Be sure to attend LMX! Pass the word.

Keynote Announcement for LMX 2010

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Maurice Jones, President and Publisher of The Virginian-Pilot, will be a keynote speaker for Local Marketing Expo 2010. Having been a Rhodes scholar, a corporate attorney and a senior state official; Maurice is well qualified to speak to the local business community.

From our first meeting with Maurice, we were impressed. His leadership experience is only enhanced by a warm smile and sense of humor. You would be hard-pressed to find a more down to earth guy. And yes, I am talking about a publisher of a newspaper that has a Sunday readership of nearly 500,000. He also oversees Pilot company web sites that have over 1 million unique visitors monthly.

We look forward to hearing from Maurice about The Pilot’s diversification over the years and the future of advertising in our local market.
