Chamber of Commerce celebrates SRC Campaign

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

A victory party was held Tuesday night at the Virginia Beach Convention Center for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and their Sustainable Resources Campaign (SRC).  LMX conference coordinator, Nicole Newsome, attended to offer her congratulations.

The SRC is an annual, time limited, resource drive for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.  The campaign utilizes corporate volunteers to involve members and the community in the Chamber through membership, sponsorship and advertising sales.  This effort raises needed cash and trade resources to provide programs, services and publications that best serve the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce membership.

LMX is pleased to partner with the local Chamber to offer a special discount code to its membership.  Likewise, the Chamber committed to support LMX with a Gold sponsorship.  Dedicated to creating economic prosperity and enhancing the quality of life in the region, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce represents nearly 2,000 member companies that employ more than 280,000 working men and women.  Since 1801, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce has been building a stronger economy and a better business community.

Visit the Chamber’s exhibit at Local Marketing Expo and ask how membership pays for itself!

To exhibit or not to exhibit?

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

As LMX has partnered with Pilot Media, Cox Media, Executive Lifestyle Magazine and other sponsors, another vital part of this event is the EXHIBITOR!

Tradeshow exhibiting can be one of the most profitable and cost-effective means for promoting your company and its products and services.  Ask yourself, would you benefit from having access to hundreds of business owners and marketing directors who are extremely qualified?  Remember, LMX attendees have paid a registration fee to learn more about marketing and how better to spend their marketing dollars.

If you are considering being an exhibitor, think about the potential new customers you may meet at Local Marketing Expo.  It is also an opportunity to strengthen bonds with current clients.  Exhibiting is a chance for your business to share special promotions and the latest innovations with the business community.  Exhibiting is a “hands on” experience with visitors to offer immediate feedback on your products and services.  Wondering if that new product is going to be well received?  LMX Expo may be a great testing opportunity.

Benefits of exhibiting at LMX are two full access tickets to LMX, company profile and link on the Local Marketing Expo website, and visibility from the event blog and social media.  Can you afford not to feature your business at the largest marketing event of the year in Hampton Roads?

The answer to the question is TO EXHIBIT!

Local Marketing – There’s an Expo for That!

Monday, July 26th, 2010

by Guest Blogger: Sonya Schweitzer, Boss Chick, Wave Marketing

Does your business sell products that will appeal to a broad, perhaps national audience? Or are you a consultant whose services might be appealing to a global audience? Have you ever tried to market to that mass audience? Unless you have a large marketing budget, or a large sales force, trying to reach the ‘masses’ nationally or globally, can be all but a pipe dream for most businesses.

Focusing locally allows businesses to refine their messaging to a more targeted audience.  There a number of methods to market locally – both online and offline. Print, TV, and radio are still reliable methods to reach a local audience. People still watch TV, and listen to the radio, and newspapers are still being printed and distributed. Companies like Pilot Media (who own a number of local news publications) will be in attendance at LMX to discuss how they are adapting and evolving to keep their audiences as more and more readers are relying on online news sites to deliver their news. I, for one, am really excited to hear about the innovative solutions they will be presenting.

Other offline marketing channels include direct mail, retail, signage, billboards etc. These channels still have a place in many marketing plans. They are also evolving, and if the ROI of these channels make sense, enhance your offline campaigns by adding online elements. You will see better response!

There are a number of online marketing tactics that can be used to support a local marketing campaign. One of the easier, and perhaps most effective, is SEO or “Search Marketing”. Fortunately for us novices, there is a panel of experts that will be discussing ‘search’ at LMX. Local search marketing allows a business to compete for keywords against a much smaller number of businesses, vs. a broader geographic campaign.

Email marketing, social media marketing and other online marketing tactics can also be highly effective in developing and then maintaining lasting relationships with your potential customers on a local level. Develop a strategic marketing plan that incorporates these tactics, and you will find your local marketing efforts should be more effective.

Taking a look at the speaker list for the LMX expo, we are very fortunate to have such an amazingly talented bunch sharing their knowledge with us! I, for one, am really excited and grateful to the LMX team for bringing such a wonderful event to Hampton Roads.

Sonya will be speaking on e-mail marketing at Local Marketing Expo.

LMX Speaker Breakfast

Monday, July 26th, 2010

The LMX team felt that involving all confirmed panelists in a brainstorming session was important to the cohesiveness of LMX.  With that in mind, the conference speakers and moderators were invited to a delicious breakfast at the PMS Deli on London Bridge Road in Virginia Beach.

After preliminary announcements, the panels met and discussed their specific breakout topics.  Moderators were present to meet and familiarize themselves with their speakers.  With the attendees in mind, ideas were shared on the expertise each participant would bring to their session.  The excitement and energy at the early morning meeting was evident.

By sharing their time and talent, the speakers involved with LMX have shown their commitment to the local business community.  If you are attending September 29th, you are in for an education packed day with national, regional and local experts.  If you have not secured your ticket, do it now!

LMX is appreciative of PMS Deli’s hospitality.  Barry Akers owns this ‘best kept secret’ in Virginia Beach.  The food was amazing, even the pastries are homemade.  Open for breakfast and lunch, you will not be disappointed in the quality or the portions of your meal.

Atlantic SEO joins list of LMX sponsors

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Atlantic SEO is a brand new division of Customer Magnetism. Rusty James, VP of Customer Magnetism says, “Atlantic SEO provides affordable services on a month-to-month basis for businesses that are targeting local, niche keywords. Local search engine marketing services is a completely different animal than services which focus on targeting generic keywords. The competition level for the words ‘Virginia Beach orthodontics’ is far less competitive than the single word ‘orthodontics.’  Our month-to-month package prices and/or our ‘a la carte’ options make these services affordable to everyone.”
